Towards a community strategy for COVID-19 prevention

Abstract

Introduction: The global epidemiological emergency situation, caused by the spread of the communicable disease COVID-19, requires the design and implementation of strategic actions integrating the performance of all social actors. In the national territory, during the stage of prevention and control of this disease, various experiences are developed that confirm the validity of the Cuban health model; hence the need to socialize some results of the hygienic-epidemiological work that, with a preventive nature, is carried out in primary health care.

Objective: To assess the relevance of a system of actions for conceiving a community strategy in COVID-19 prevention.

Methods: Theoretical methods were applied, such as analysis and synthesis, historical-logical and systematization. Among the empirical methods, documental review, survey and expert consultation were used. Information gathering techniques were used, such as key informants and life histories, together with mathematical-statistical methods for data processing.

Results: The contents were defined and essential elements were structured for conceiving a community strategy for the prevention of COVID-19. The experts consulted contributed with the formation of a comprehensive approach of greater relevance regarding the proposed actions.

Conclusions: The relevance of the system of actions for conceiving of a community strategy, focused on the prevention of COVID-19, in correspondence with the proposed objective is corroborated.
