Abstract

Introduction: At present, in many places on the planet, emphasis has only been placed on the person infected with COVID-19, without taking into account the conditions of the context in which these people develop their lives as social beings.

Objective: To distinguish the theoretical foundations that have a direct application in the workplace for the prevention of COVID-19 in the community setting.

Methods: A theoretical-reflective study is presented. Its design was supported by systematic observation, reflection, interpretation and systematization of daily practice in the community setting during work for the prevention of COVID-19.

Conclusions: In order to modify mental patterns and develop a new culture in the setting that surrounds individuals, the family, the community and society, theoretical foundations are required that have a direct application at work for the prevention of COVID-19 in the community setting, such as the Ecological Model and Florence Nightingale’s theory of the environment.
