Abstract

Introduction: If the global response to COVID-19 was initially insufficient and delayed, the fight against the pandemic is now accelerating, highlighting the urgency of a global response.

Objective: To change the level of information about COVID-19 among adolescents linked to the epidemiological event at two medical offices belonging to the Joaquín de Agüero y Agüero Polyclinic.

Methods: An educational interventionwas conducted study involving 75 adolescents from two medical clinics. The evaluation instrument was administered twice - before and after the educational intervention - serving as the primary data collection tool for the study.

Results: Before the educational intervention, the adolescents presented an insufficient level of information about the disease (86.7%), the epidemiological history of contacts of positive cases (48%), and the most vulnerable age (80%). Adolescents with lack of knowledge about the signs and symptoms were the most common; 34.6% reported cough; 2.6% reported asymptomatic; and 85.4% reported preventive measures.

Conclusions: After implementing the educational program, the level of information about COVID-19 was increased among adolescents in clinics 28 and 34 at Joaquín de Agüero y Agüero Polyclinic.
