Scientific Production of the Revista Cubana de Medicina General Integral in the Period 2019-2023

Abstract

Introduction: Revista Cubana de Medicina General Integral is the official scientific communication organ of the Cuban Society of Family Medicine. Their publications are for the better development of the activity of family doctors in their respective communities.

Objective: Characterize the scientific production of the Revista Cubana de Medicina General Integral in the period 2019-2023.

Methods: Bibliometric study, through Scopus, in 312 articles (N=312). The variables were analyzed: year of publication, number of citations, collaboration and authors; sex, most productive authors, type of article, most productive institution and countries. The most cited articles of the study period and keywords. VOSViewer and the Price index were used.

Results: Scientific production in 2021 predominated with 80 articles and the lowest in 2023 with 51 articles. The highest number of citations was in 2019 with 29 citations and the lowest in 2023 with zero citations. Collaboration existed in 177 authors (56.73%), the most productive sex was female with 746 (65.27%). The most productive author was Rodríguez, J.H. with 6 items. 216 original articles predominated (69.23%). The most productive institution was the Universidad de Ciencias Médicas de La Habana with 41 articles and the country Cuba with 214 articles. The Price index was 0.71.

Conclusions: Despite the originality according to the type of articles and the updating of their bibliographic references, a decrease in scientific production and citations received in the last three years is observed.
